Broken Vessel
By Dot Eastwick

RL44He sat back and admired it not noticing the flaw.
The old man hobbled through the trash laying on the ground. With a stick he poked through all the garbage that was strewn around.

His eyes kept darting back and forth seeking anything that might draw his attention, that would appeal to him.

Hot sun beat down upon him through tattered, shabby clothes. Perspiration covered his face and dropped from off his nose.

Suddenly he caught a glimmer, a rainbow of bright light!
He poked his stick, uncovering an object small and bright.

It was a little crystal vase that had a tiny crack.
He picked it up and rubbed it off, and put it in a sack.

When he got home he washed it and was pleased within himself,
The surface gave off colors when he put it on a shelf. RL22

He sat back and admired it not noticing the flaw.
To him it was a beauty that should be seen by all.

Isn't this just like our Master taking you and me, a pair of broken vessels, lying in debris? He picks us up and rubs us off, and holds us close to Him.

He washes us of all our filth and cleanses us within.
And then He does not see us filthy as before
but only as a finished product, completed by our Lord!

The Brave
By Katie McNames West

The Brave is something God makes you.
It is that 1/10 of an ounce extra
in your heart that sets you apart.

You may not even know
it is there until one day it's needed...
desparately needed.

It is that instant in season and out way of life
to help, to defend, to lead.

Brave doesn't mean not afraid.
But it does mean that fear doesn't rule and run.

Brave doesn't mean that there won't be a tear,
But it does mean to stand your ground.

Brave is when your body says "Let's go back."
But your feet move forward.

Brave is Truth, Integrity, Honesty, Justice and Wisdom
that no amount of money could ever buy.
It is that 1/10 of an ounce extra
God carefully places in a willing heart.

I Am Somebody

RL17

I may be young; I may be old,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's child.

I may be educated; I may be unlettered,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's child.

I may be black; I may be white,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's child.

I may be a success; I may be a failure,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's child.

I may be fat; I may be thin,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's child.

I may be married; I may be divorced,
But I am somebody,
For I am God's child.

I may be a sinner; I may be a saint,
But I am somebody,
For Jesus is my savior.

I AM God's child !
